about the professor

Julia Miele Rodas usually teaches at Bronx Community College, but developed "Fictions of Disability" especially for students at Lehman College, where a minor in disability studies is offered. She really loves her work, but teaching this course is a special treat since she gets to focus on disability and literature, her favorite academic areas.

Julia has been teaching college English for more than 20 years, including courses in writing, poetry, Victorian fiction, utopian literature, and disability studies. She's taught at Hunter College, New York City College of Technology, Cooper Union, Sarah Lawrence, and New Jersey Institute of Technology before taking a permanent teaching job at Bronx Community College. Julia has a Ph.D. in English from the CUNY Graduate Center and has published articles, book chapters, and an edited collection of essays, mostly about literature and disability.
