Classroom Activities

Writing and experiential learning activities are great ways to engage students with their own thinking, course content, and with each other. Writing + Experiencing Community Health is not confined to learning outside the classroom! Students have diverse learning styles, and the use of in-class activities can help students engage with their ways of knowing, as well as those embraced by fellow learners.

Activities presented here incorporate low-stakes writing, writing-to-learn, and/or experiential learning activities and may be useful for enlivening a classroom and scaffolding more formal assignments. These activities may also be helpful in providing instructors with information she might not otherwise obtain, such as receiving quick feedback on the classroom environment and student engagement with course content.
