Textual Analysis
Textual analysis—the process of reading, interpreting, and effectively responding to a piece of writing—is at the heart of many of the writing assignments you will encounter here at BCC. While the type of written text that you are asked to analyze may vary from assignment to assignment—covering such genres as essays, short stories, poems, plays, and novels—the skill of reading closely in order to identify and explore central meanings is the key to effective textual analysis, regardless of genre.
