About the Honors Program

The Honors Program serves self-motivated and qualified students by providing exceptional and intense learning experiences in special classes that are usually highly interactive. The program highlights critical thinking, and so explores topics in greater depth, and features assignments that build upon students’ distinguished record of accomplishments. Activities focus on extensive reading and writing, but also may include individual and group presentations, research projects, opportunities for close interaction with faculty, and participation in community and cultural events.

The Honors Program emphasizes interactive classroom settings, library research, and extensive reading and writing skills. At the same time, the program offers a supportive atmosphere and the personal attention of committed and caring professors, counselors and classmates.

Writing and critical thinking skills are at the heart of the Honors Program curricula. The ability to write and communicate clearly and effectively are central to your success, and are needed to prepare you for the eventual rigors of career and further education.
