AM I ELIGIBLE?

Am I eligible to enroll in honors courses?

Honors courses are open to all new and continuing students (part-time or full-time, day or evening) that meet the following criteria:

•  3.0 or higher GPA 
•  9 or more college credits  

*Current students who have not yet earned 9 college credits but have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA are eligible with the recommendation of an advisor in consultation with the Honors Program Coordinators.

*New students with no GPA and no remedial needs are also eligible with the recommendation of an advisor in consultation with the Honors Program Coordinators.

Am I eligible to work on an honors contract?

Students can have an honors contract in a non-honors course if the following criteria is met: 

•  3.2 or higher GPA 
•  9 or more college credits 
•  Obtained the course instructor's approval
•  Submitted a completed honors contract form

*In exceptional circumstances, a student who does not meet these guidelines may, in consultation with the Honors Program Coordinators and the instructor, be approved for an honors contract. 

*Students can have no more than 3 honors contracts or a combination of 3 honors contracts and honors courses per semester.

*It is recommended that instructors have no more than 2 honors courses per semester.

Am I eligible to apply to become an

Honors Program Scholar Candidate?

Students can apply to become an Honors Program Scholar Candidate if they meet the following criteria:

•  Maintain a 3.4 or higher GPA 
•  9 or more college credits 
•  Currently taking or have taken at least one honors course or honors contract

Am I eligible to graduate as an Honors Program Scholar?

Graduating students can graduate with the distinction of being an Honors Program Scholar if they have met the following criteria:

• Maintained a 3.4 or higher GPA 
• Applied to become an Honors Program Scholar Candidate and admitted by the Honors Program Coordinators
• Completed four or more honors courses or honors contracts with a minimum of 12 college credits (each with a grade of B+ or higher)
• Completed a community engagement learning project
• Completed a capstone Honors Program Scholar ePortfolio
• Met regularly with the Honors Program Coordinators
