Shannon's Life

          and Educational Goals

I am working at Bronx Community College in room 407 as an e-Portfolio tutor and Tech Assistant for Philosophy 11. I am very gracious for the opportunity to extend my services to other students and can help BCC students perform better in these two areas.  

I have several educational goals that I am willing to pursue. I also have various passions that interest me so I do not have a specific area of education that I want to teach; therefore I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, unless something in particular gravitates me towards it.

Since deciding to become an Educator/Teacher, receiving a Child Development Associate at Calibur Training Institute, enrolling at BCC to pursue my degree and now attending Lehman, I am dedicated to guide others and apply my expanding knowledge in a productive way to foster positive development. 

Since I became a student at BCC in Fall 2008, I have opened my eyes to many things, have become more aware, and am continuing to evolve as an individual and as a student. I would even consider teaching as a college Professor because all students seek knowledge, attention, and want to learn more. Learning extends further than just academics. It also involves a unique integration of creativity, social development, and individualism.

I would love to create a well-developed school that would implement a curriculum for the students that is valuable beyond their expectations of what a school should teach. The school would include academic- creative intensive classes like cooking, art, and dance, foreign language and culture, special programs for teens, and other positive courses. The manner in which we shape our children will eventually become the future examples of society. I will make every effort to foster positive learning into children and instill a lifelong passion for knowledge. My intent is to influence children as well as peers my age and even older. You are never too old to learn something new.

As my resume indicates, I have completed the School Violence Prevention Training, Child Abuse Reporting, as well as Medicine Administration Training, Health & Safety, CPR and First Aid certification. These are just some of the steps I have to do in order to become a professional Community Educator. My focused goal is to earn a Doctorate's degree. By continuing my education at BCC, I am on my way to fulfilling my Educational Goals.
