Effects of the Fugitive Slave Law (1850)

Context: In 1850, Congress passed the Fugitive Slave Law which allowed any person of color suspected of being a fugitive to be returned to slavery. The law created chaos and communities of color and abolitionists across the North organized to combat the new legislation.
